思源海洋会议由上海交通大学海洋学院主办,旨在汇聚世界海洋科学与技术方向的专家学者,搭建学术交流与科研合作平台。2019年6月,首届思源海洋会议以“海洋环境与气候变化的相互作用”为主题,汇聚了40余位海内外科学家,共同探讨了海洋环境、气候变化及其之间的相互作用;2020年6月,第二届思源海洋会议以“中高纬海气过程及其气候效应”为主题,线上线下近400人参与,探讨了中高纬度海洋气候、地球系统、生物地球化学及全球变化过程中的科学与技术问题;2021年5月,第三届思源海洋会议以“极端海洋”为主题,分设极端天气与气候、极地海洋环境、极端海洋生境三个专题,吸引了400余位专家学者共同参与,探讨了全球气候变化背景下,与此相关的前沿科学与技术问题。 Shanghai Ocean Conference (SHOC) is hosted by the School of Oceanography (SOO), Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The conference is a platform for scientists and researchers from the world to communicate scientific ideas and to seek research collaborations. The first SHOC “Ocean Environment and Climate Interaction” held in June 2019 brought together more than 40 domestic and international scientists to discuss interactions between marine environments and the climate change. In June 2020, the second SHOC was held focusing on the theme “Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions at Mid and High Latitudes and their Climate Effects”. Nearly 400 scientists (including online participants) joined the conference and had intensive discussions on ocean and climate processes at mid and high latitudes, the Earth system, biogeochemistry and global change. In May 2021, the third SHOC was held with the theme “Extreme Ocean”, which was focused on extreme weather and climate, extreme polar ocean environments and extreme biogeochemical processes in the deep ocean. This conference attracted more than 400 scientists and scholars discussing relevant frontier scientific and technological issues in extreme environments under the global climate change. 2022年5月20–22日,上海交通大学海洋学院将联合中国极地研究中心(中国极地研究所)共同举办第四届思源海洋会议,会议主题为“极地深海:变与不变”,分设极地动力与气候过程、极地生物地球化学循环、深海物理与生态过程三个专题。我们诚挚邀请资深专家和优秀青年人才共聚一堂,探讨极地深海过程与机制,探索科学前沿。 During May 20–22, 2022, SOO and the Polar Research Institute of China will co-host the fourth SHOC, and the theme of this year will be“Polar and Deep Oceans: Variability and Stability”. We would like to invite senior and early-career scientists to join the conference. The topics include but are not limited to polar dynamical processes and climate change, polar biogeochemical cycling, deep-sea physical and ecological processes. We will work together for a sustainable ocean.

H& X* V" Q极地动力与气候过程 Polar dynamical processes and climate change 极地海区是全球大洋深层水和底层水的发源地,在海洋经向翻转环流系统中扮演关键角色。通过海洋环流和大气环流,极地海洋-海冰-冰架-冰川-大气耦合过程的变化性与稳定性会对全球气候系统产生重要影响, 同时也受到气候变异的显著反馈作用。 Polar oceans are the origins of deep and bottom waters of the global ocean, and play a critical role in the global overturning circulation system. Via ocean and atmospheric circulations, the variability and stability of coupled ocean-sea ice-ice shelf-glacier-atmosphere processes in the polar regions can significantly affect the global climate system, meanwhile also considerably modulated by climate change in the mid and low latitudes.

极地生物地球化学循环 Biogeochemical cycling in the polar regions 极地海区生源要素和人类产生污染物的生物地球化学过程在全球物质循环和能量流动中扮演着关键角色,同时作为全球气候敏感区和生态脆弱带,极地大气-冰雪-海洋-陆地多圈层相互作用受人类活动和全球变化的影响显著,这将作用于物质输运和生态系统结构,且对极地海区碳源汇格局和生态健康产生深刻影响。 The biogeochemical process of biogenic elements and anthropogenic contaminants in the polar oceans play a pivotal role in the global circulation of material and flow of energy. Meanwhile, as a global climate sensitive and ecological fragile zone, the air-ice-sea-land multi-geosphere interactions in polar regions are significantly affected by human activities and global changes. These will affect material transport and ecosystem structure, and have a profound impact on the carbon source-sink pattern and ecological health of polar oceans.

深海物理与生态过程 Deep sea physical and ecological processes 深海是地表气候系统中最大的碳储库,其物理和生物过程在中长时间尺度上对大气CO2含量起着重要的调节作用。探讨深海的物理环流机制、生物过程和生态系统特征以及三者之间的相互作用是揭示海洋在长期气候变化中所扮演角色的前沿科学问题。 The deep ocean is the largest carbon reservoir in the surface climate system. The physical and biological processes in the deep ocean are major modulators of atmospheric CO2concentrations on medium to long timescales. The physical circulation mechanisms, biological processes, ecosystem characteristics and their interactions in the deep ocean are frontier research topics regarding the role of the ocean in long-term climate change. 本届会议将以“极地深海:变与不变”为中心议题,结合海洋科学多学科交叉的特点,对极地深海的物理海洋、化学海洋、生物海洋和海洋地质等过程进行深入研讨。 Overall, the fourth SHOC focuses on “Polar and Deep Oceans: Variability and Stability”, covering a wide range of topics in physical, chemical, biological, and geological oceanography in the polar and deep oceans.
